Dec 16, 2020 · Look at the chart below. A 20 weight oil has a viscosity range of 5.60-9.29 at 100 degrees Celsius. A 30 weight oil has a viscosity range of 9.30-12.49 at 100 degrees Celsius. With that said, a thinner 20 weight oil would be on the lower end of the viscosity range between 5.60-9.29. We will say 5.75 cST for example.
Toyota directly tells GR86 drivers to use 0w20 for this vehicle, and only use 5w20 as a last resort. If you do use 5w20, Toyota recommends changing it to 0w20 immediately after. You live in a warmer place, so 0w vs 5w won’t make a huge difference… but it’s still better to go with the advice of the people that spent years building and
Jan 18, 2019 · It's not very shear stable though, by design as the HT/HS is only 3.0. Per XOM it is of the GM 4178M level of quality. If I lived in an area with extremely cold winter temps, AFE 0w20/30 would be my choice. These oils from what I understand also have slightly better friction modification than the other M1 oils.

Sep 25, 2019 · I read through my manual and it states that 0w20 Toyota C5 oil is recommended and 0w30 is tolerated. I have read people using 5w30 by Liquid Moly. Also, a B58 engine usually runs on 5w30. So I don't know why toyota is recommending only 0w20( I called Toyota Canada and they said 0w16 could be a suitable replacement as well to not void warranties).
